Fixieshop Moscow
Summer 2016, Moscow. The original idea: open a fixie shop. What came of it: an Instagram account that photographed every street bike in the city, and the small underground fixie scene of Moscow and Saint Petersburg.

The context
Summer 2016, Moscow. I was living there and had fallen for fixies: those fixed-gear bikes, no derailleur, no front brake. The original idea: open a shop to sell them.
Picture Moscow in 2016: hardly anyone on the streets on a bike, let alone a fixie. Back then, cycling wasn't really a way to get around the city.
What I did instead
The Instagram account. I'd go out and photograph every bike I liked, and lots of fixies, because there was a small underground hype around them in Moscow and Saint Petersburg. Bits of a scene you'd stumble upon by chance, in courtyards, outside bars.
The shop never opened. The account stayed on as a trace of that idea, and of that city, at that moment.
