MumExpat
The guide for French-speaking mums moving abroad with their kids. 39 cities: schools, healthcare, paperwork, things to do, official school calendars, compared school fees, over 1,000 French-speaking Facebook groups and an assistant that answers questions.
The pitch
Moving abroad with children means finding a school, a paediatrician, a school calendar, new friends… in a city you don't know yet. The information exists, but it's scattered across embassy websites, forums and Facebook groups.
MumExpat brings it all together in one place, city by city, for French-speaking mums.
What's inside
- 39 city guides, from London to Ho Chi Minh City: French and international schools, healthcare, paperwork, things to do, events, French-language media.
- The official school calendars, which you can subscribe to in your own calendar in one click.
- A school fees comparison across several currencies.
- A directory of over 1,000 Facebook groups for French speakers, filterable by city, with the most active groups and the ones on the rise.
- A world map of school guidance counsellors based outside France.
- An assistant that answers questions about each city, based on the site's verified content.
How it's made
One data folder per city, validated against a schema, and every link checked one by one. An automatic link check runs every month and sends a Telegram alert when an official page disappears.
A static Astro site on Cloudflare Pages, a sign-up list on Supabase, a welcome email series, a site in French and English. Built with Claude Code.
